There are 3 ways to add an ING current account into Cake...

  1. with your bank card and ING card reader,

  2. with itsme, and

  3. with the ING Mobile app

Card and card reader

You can add your ING current account into Cake with your ING card and card reader by following the steps in the flow. πŸ’³

When using itsme to add your ING current account, make sure that you already used itsme in the ING app before. ☝️

When you are adding your ING current account and use itsme for the first time in the ING app, there is a possibility the flow can fail. πŸ’₯

ING app

When using your ING app to add your ING current account, make sure that you have the new ING app.πŸ“±

If you don't have the latest ING app installed on your smartphone, the flow can fail. πŸ’₯

Business account(s)

When you are trying to add an ING business account, you can use the 3 methods (card and card reader, itsme, the ING app) to add your account. βœ…

ING Business accounts with multiple mandate holders, on the other hand, can not be added into Cake yet. πŸ˜–

We are expecting this in 2022. πŸ“…

Credit card(s)

The European Bank Authority stated that banks have to support credit cards in the shortest possible timeframe.

Savings and investments account(s)

The European legislation currently doesn't allow you to add your savings or investments account(s) in Cake. 😒😭

Using the "Add Account" flow, you can however store the number of these accounts in Cake.

This will enable us to start tracking transfers to/from your savings or investment accounts. πŸŽ‰

How much data does ING provide?

The operating model of Cake is built upon the European Payment Service Directive version 2 (PSD2) directive. Under this directive, European consumers can request their bank to share their data with Trusted Third Parties (TPPs) such as Cake. πŸŽ‰

* A TPP, like Cake, is licensed and under the rigorous supervision of the National Bank where the company was launched. In the case of Cake, it's the National Bank of Belgium.

The PSD2 directive states that the banks should deliver the same data to Cake as it does to its own channels. This is however not already the case for all banks. πŸ€”

Currently, ING provides 10 years of data to Cake. However, Cake currently only uses 5 years of data for insights. This means that, upon connecting your ING account, you can see 60 months worth of data in your Cake app. πŸ“…

Cake will, however, accumulate your transaction data; so after for example 3 months, the Cake app will be able to provide you insights for 63 months.

Note: We are in discussion with ING and the National Bank of Belgium to ensure that the legal obligations are addressed in the coming months. 🀞

⚠️ If an error occurs or the flow fails, please do not hesitate to contact us using the "Support" function in the Cake app (Cake logo in the top right corner > Control centre > Support).πŸ’¬
